ENFIELD, CT — Thanks in large part to the efforts of Enfield Public Schools, Friday the 13th was a very lucky day for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC), as the ninth annual PJ Day For the Kids was a huge success.

Enfield Public Schools raised $4,720 to benefit the children's hospital, an increase from the $4,172.75 collected in 2018. Smyth Bus Co. also collected $355 from its Enfield drivers and staff, making a total donation from Enfield of $5,075, a 22 percent increase from the previous year.

All 10 Enfield public school buildings participated: Eagle Academy, Stowe Early Learning Center, Enfield Street School, Parkman, Hazardville Memorial, Eli Whitney, Henry Barnard, Prudence Crandall, Kennedy Middle School and Enfield High School.

According to Enfield Board of Education member and PTO coordinator Scott Ryder, each school contributed to the cause in various ways. Eli Whitney, for example, hosted a pancake breakfast, while in some buildings, the entire staff ordered and wore the official CCMC PJ Day T-shirts. Staff members wore matching or themed PJs by grade-level or department in some schools; Ryder even wore pajamas and a green T-shirt to the school board meeting just prior to the event.

Ryder contributed a number of photos from the day for publication, as shown below.
