Planned Presentation on Fermi Reuse Canceled

Enfield Board of Education leadership will review data collected by reuse committee members.

The expected presentation by the Future Use of Fermi Advisory Committee to the Enfield Board of Education did not materialize Tuesday night, the Journal Inquirer reported.

A 68-page report by the panel did not contain a clear recommendation on what to do with the Fermi High School building once it is vacated following the upcoming school year.

In a prepared statement, the JI said school board chairman Tom Sirard said, “I want to thank the members of the Future Use of Fermi Committee for their dedicated effort to meet their charge. They have collected a large amount of credible data, which was distributed in the board packet last Friday. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the task and the challenges of collecting the data, the committee was unable to make a clear, singular recommendation to the board. Therefore, the leadership committee will now take the data and determine a process for moving forward.”
