Police Investigating Attack on Coach at CREC School in Enfield
Police are investigating an attack on a football coach at a CREC school in Enfield.

ENFIELD, CT — Police said they are investigating an instance of junior varsity football players attacking a coach at Capitol Region Education Council school in Enfield.
The incident involved players at the CREC Public Safety Academy in Enfield, police chief Carl Sferrazza said.
The coach was attacked after a dinner at the school, he said.

Timothy J. Sullivan, Superintendent of the Capitol Region Education Council released a statement on Tuesday afternoon about the incident.
“We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred involving members of our football team," the statement read. "We are cooperating with law enforcement officials and consequences are being given at the team and school level. The safety of all of our school community members is a top priority, and we are taking this act of aggression very seriously. There is no place for this type of behavior at CREC.”

Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident. The coach was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital, authorities said.
A 14-year-old from Hartford and 15 year-olds from Hartford and Vernon were arrested and will appear in Rockville Juvenile Court, according to authorities.
