Report: Former Enfield Cop No Longer Has Terminated Status

An agreement signed between the town and the ex-officer changed his status to resigned.

Former Enfield Police Officer Matthew Worden and the town reportedly have reached an agreement that has changed his status to an officer who resigned rather than one who was fired.

Worden was fired last October after an departmental investigation of a complaint that he used excessive force during an arrest last April. But in early February, Worden’s departure status was changed to a resignation, according to documents obtained by The Courant.

The charges against the man from Windsor who was arrested after being found in a local park boat launch after hours, were dropped in August. Shortly after his arrest, the man filed a police brutality complaint against Worden.

It is one of several civil actions filed against Worden who reportedly has agreed to cooperate with the town in its defense against the legal action. Worden’s status from terminated to resigned was changed when he and the town signed an agreement in early February, according to The Courant report that can be found here.
