ENFIELD, CT — A telephone call reporting multiple injuries at Enfield High School Friday morning turned out to be a "swatting" incident, with other area police departments receiving similar calls.

Around 10:24 a.m., the Enfield Police Department received a call stating there was an active incident at Enfield High School, with multiple students reportedly injured. School resource officers immediately secured the school and began searching the facility while additional officers responded. The entire school was checked with nothing suspicious found, and no additional reports of acts of violence having occurred, school officials reported.

"Swatting" is a hoax that involves making false 911 calls to provoke large responses by law enforcement groups, such as SWAT teams. Last week, a half-dozen high schools in New Jersey were locked down after an apparent swatting spree.
