Road Race To Prompt Road Closures In Enfield This Weekend

Enfield roads will be closed for the Rotary Club's Cinco K Mayo 5K, with delays and detours expected in the morning.

ENFIELD, CT —Road closures and traffic delays are expected in Enfield on Saturday morning as runners take part in a local charity race.

The Enfield Police Department issued a traffic advisory for the annual Cinco K Mayo 5K Road Race, scheduled for May 2 from 8 to 11 a.m.

The Rotary Club of Enfield organizes the event and raises funds for community programs and scholarships.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. near the Enfield Town Annex on Moody Road.

During the event, portions of several roads will be closed to through traffic, including:

  • Moody Road between North Maple Street and Taylor Road
  • Taylor Road between Somers Road and North Street
  • North Street between Park Street and Moody Road
  • Park Street between North Street and Moody Road

Police said traffic will not be permitted along the race route unless directed by officers when it is safe to proceed.

Drivers should expect delays and follow posted detours.

In addition, a truck staging area will be set up near the old Enrico Fermi High School site, 1264 Enfield St., with restricted access to the Martin Brower Distribution Center nearby during the race.
