Scantic Spring Splash Races Canceled For 2020
The 29th annual running of the canoe and kayak races down the Scantic River has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

ENFIELD-SOMERS, CT — For nearly 30 years, the unofficial start of spring in north-central Connecticut has been the Scantic Spring Splash, which brings kayakers and canoers from all over the Northeast to battle the often-frigid waters of the Scantic River, competing in more than a dozen divisions.
This year, however, there will be no races, as the March 28 event has been canceled. A statement from race organizers on the Splash website reads:
Due to recommended restrictions for public gatherings and social distancing brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Scantic Spring Splash has been cancelled. We hope to see you all in 2021 – stay safe!
