Scantic Spring Splash Returning To Enfield After 2-Year Hiatus
The annual kayak and canoe races on the Scantic River will return March 26 for the first time since 2019.

ENFIELD, CT — After a 2-year hiatus brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, one of the most populat annual spectator events in Enfield will make its return later this month. The 29th running of the Scantic Spring Splash, presented by the Scantic River Watershed Association, will finally take place Saturday, March 26.
Registration is scheduled from 9-11 a.m. at the Powder Mill Barn, 32 South Maple Street. Entry fee is $25 per paddler, and proceeds benefit the Enfield Food Shelf. Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to assist the hunger agency. This year's theme is "Be a Fan, Donate a Can."
The start for all racers is at 27 Quality Avenue in Somers. Parking at the start is restricted, so plan on a quick boat drop and then drive your car to the end destination of your race. Paddlers this year are responsible for providing their own transportation from the finish line parking area to the starting point; there will be no shuttle bus provided.
