ENFIELD, CT — A New York state man was arrested Monday on a warrant charging him with sexual assault in connection with a case involving a 13-year-old girl in Enfield.

Ryan Dustin, 19, of Putnam Valley, N.Y., was charged with second-degree sexual assault on a victim ages 13-15, risk of injury to a child and illegal sexual contact with a victim under age 16. He was released on a court-set $75,000 bond, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

In January, a 13-year-old girl reported having had sexual activity at her home with Dustin, whom she'd met through social media-type contacts. The girl claimed the two engaged in sexual activity on two occasions, in late 2018 and early 2019, Fox said.

A police investigation was difficult because the victim initially reported Dustin had used a different name during their online encounters. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was called in to aid in a forensic examination of internet protocol, Fox said.
