Slashing Incident Leads to Arrest of Enfield Man

The suspect was found shortly after the incident in a Route 5 bar, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield man was arrested at a local bar Wednesday night, after police tracked him there following an investigation into an incident which left a man with serious lacerations to his face.

Christopher Graves, 38, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace and carrying a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $100,000, Det. Lt. Willie Pedemonti said.

Around 8:11 p.m., police were dispatched to a reported assault at the corner of Pearl and South streets. Upon arrival, a man was found suffering from a large laceration, extending from his ear to his chin, Pedemonti said.

The victim said he was standing on the corner when he was attacked by an unknown assailant. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford for treatment of his wounds, and he is expected to survive, Pedemonti said.

Police reviewed camera footage taken in the area and identified Graves as a suspect; they also identified his vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle was spotted in the parking lot of Jimmy's Pub on Enfield, and Graves was located inside the bar, Pedemonti said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, Pedemonti said.
