Stretch Of I-91 North Closed For Hours Due To Enfield Crash [UPDATED]
A crash involving three vehicles, including a box truck, brought highway traffic to a crawl and caused considerable congestion on Route 5.

ENFIELD, CT — A lengthy segment of Interstate 91 northbound was heavily congested following a 3-vehicle crash Monday morning.
Connecticut State Police reported the crash occurred at 9:12 a.m. A Dodge Grand Caravan and a Yale Electric box truck were each traveling northbound when an unknown third vehicle, traveling in the left lane, attempted to merge into the center lane and struck the Caravan. The Dodge was propelled into the driver's side of the box truck, which breached the metal beam guard rail in the right shoulder and rolled over, according to a police report.
The unknown vehicle fled the scene. The truck operator, a 59-year-old man from Tariffville, was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. A man and a passenger in the Caravan were not injured, police said.
