ENFIELD, CT — A man accused of sexually assaulting a child in Enfield a decade ago was captured by authorities in Tennessee last week, and was returned to Connecticut Wednesday to face charges of first-degree sexual assault.

Joshua DeGray, 43, is being held in lieu of a $200,000 cash or surety bond, and is slated to be arraigned Thursday in Hartford Superior Court.

According to information provided to Patch by Det. Lt. Willie Pedemonti, the Enfield Police Department was contacted several months ago by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) regarding a sexual assault case purported to have taken place in Enfield from 2009 through 2011.

A cooperative investigation between the TBI and Enfield detectives revealed the victim was 12 years at the time of the incident. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued for DeGray, and Tennessee authorities arrested him on Oct. 11 and charged him as a fugitive of justice, according to Pedemonti.

DeGray waived his rights and agreed to travel back to Connecticut. He was placed under arrest by Enfield Police Department members Wednesday, according to Pedemonti.
