Three Promoted Within Enfield Police Department

Police force has a new lieutenant, sergeant and detective.

Three veteran Enfield police officers were recently promoted to higher ranks within the department.

Sgt. Willie Pedemonti was promoted to lieutenant. He joined the police force in February 1988, and reached the rank of sergeant in 2004. He was assigned to the detective division in 2009.

"Willie has taken on all kinds of responsibilities above and beyond what he needs to with the Explorers," Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said. "Not only that, he transitioned into the detective division and did a good job there. He's well respected, and will work out just fine as our new lieutenant."

Officer Doug Montas was promoted to sergeant. He began his career in Enfield in April 1997.

"Cops have different pet peeves that they really like to go after, and Doug really likes to track down bad guys," Sferrazza said. "When we need to find somebody, he's very tenacious, and he does that in addition to his normal patrol duties."

Officer Ralph Jensen has become a member of the detective bureau. He started with the department in July 2001, and in recent years has been very involved in the community policing division.

"Ralph has developed a lot of contacts in the Thompsonville section and throughout town," Sferrazza said. "He's very good with people, and I think he's going to be a great investigator for us."

"People have to earn their promotions, and each of these three people have demonstrated to me that they deserve it," the chief added.

The three men assumed their new duties on Aug. 28.
