Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?

An old advertisement and story of businesses from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark that is no longer in town through publication of old advertisements from some 1960s-1990s Enfield and Fermi high school yearbooks and early-1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories and newspapers.

Today we go back a half-century to the 1967 Enfield High School yearbook, and check out a pair of ads from businesses which no longer exist, but curiously, each location currently has a similar merchant in operation.

Hartley's was a small grocery store at 1436 Enfield Street, formerly owned by T. A. Hartley. According to town land records, the current structure was built in 1920; it is now owned by Anthony and Lynn D'Angelo and is called Tony's Little Store.

The Ringside Restaurant was a sports-themed bar and restaurant, housed at 112 Spring Street on the corner of Maple Avenue. Hank Brignoli owned the Ringside for more than 20 years; he passed away in 2000 at age 76. The site is currently home to the Enfield Tap.

Enfield Patch invites readers to share their memories in the comments section below.
