Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?
An old advertisement and story of a business from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark that is no longer in town through publication of old advertisements from some 1960s-1980s Enfield and Fermi high school yearbooks and early-1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories and newspapers.
Today we travel back in time four decades to the 1977 Fermi High School yearbook, and an ad from the Electric Candle Company Ltd.
Located in the Enfield Suburban Mall, a formerly enclosed shopping center which is currently the site of the Enfield Commons plaza, Electric Candle was one of many small shops which inhabited Enfield's initial mall (predating Enfield Square by two years). At the time of this ad, other tenants included Eddie's Sporting Goods, Jonathan's Arcade and the 190 East Lounge; Woolco Department Store had closed two years earlier.

A flea market also occupied the inner walkways of the mall every weekend during this time period.
Enfield Patch invites readers to share their memories in the comments section below.
