Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?

An old advertisement and story of businesses from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT — In this weekly series, Enfield Patch remembers a business or landmark that is no longer in town through publication of old advertisements from some 1960s-1980s Enfield and Fermi high school yearbooks and early-1960s to mid-1980s telephone directories and newspapers.

Today we go back 30 years to the 1987 Fermi High School yearbook, to a trio of ads from local small businesses.

Cornerstone Realty operated for more than four decades from a building adjacent to the old Mountain Laurel Restaurant on Enfield Street. Ronald Alaimo, Sr. owned the businesses for 42 years before passing away in June 2005 at age 69.

The other two ads are from businesses which were next-door neighbors in the 7-Eleven Plaza on Elm Street. Lynne Jewelers was operated by Judy Menaker for many years, while very little is known (but information is sought) about Sharp Cuts, one of a multitude of hair salons that has occupied that space over the years.

Enfield Patch invites readers to share their memories in the comments section below.
