Town Council Votes to Settle Brutality Lawsuit Against Enfield Police
Under terms of the settlement, neither party may disclose the financial arrangement.

ENFIELD, CT — By a 10-1 vote, the Enfield Town Council authorized its insurer to settle a lawsuit brought by a Windsor man who alleged police brutality during his 2014 arrest, the Journal Inquirer reported.
Mark Maher, who had sued the town following his arrest at the North River Street boat launch in April 2014, will receive an undisclosed amount of money in the settlement. Confidentiality on the part of both parties in the suit was required in order for a settlement to be reached, according to Enfield Town Manager Bryan Chodkowski.
Longtime councilor Red Edgar, a retired Enfield police lieutenant, cast the lone dissenting vote, citing his objection to the non-disclosure of the settlement terms.
