ENFIELD, CT — A suspect is being sought by Enfield police following a crash in which a pickup truck slammed into a small freestanding apartment on Route 5 early Wednesday evening.
Around 7:05 p.m., a black pickup truck, described as an older model but in good condition and bearing Massachusetts registration plates, was traveling southbound on Route 5, or King Street, near the YardeHouse Tavern. The truck was witnessed crossing the double yellow line and driving across the front yard of 1671 King Street, then slamming into the apartment, police said.
Once the driver backed the truck out of the apartment, the driver fled in the vehicle southbound toward East Windsor. Police searched the surrounding area, but did not locate the truck. It is believed to have sustained heavy front end damage and possible damage extending onto the truck cab, police said.
