Ukraine Focus Of Enfield Event On Town Green
Bipartisan effort locally planning 'Day of Remembrance' to show Ukrainians support in their battle against invaders.
ENFIELD — Republican Marie Pyznar and Democrat Cindy Mangini have served the people of Enfield for years, sitting on the town council, Enfield's highest governing body.
Now, the bipartisan duo aims to serve the war-ravaged people of Ukraine with a special event aimed at showing support for the embattled nation, which has been invaded by Russian President Vladimir Putin's troops.
On Sunday, May 22, from 1 to 3 p.m., a "Day of Reflection" will be held at the Enfield Town Green on North Main Street to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

There, area residents looking to show support for the war-torn nation can listen to speakers and participate in any activities planned, all with the eastern European democracy in mind.
"This should be a non-political, non-partisan effort to show support for Ukraine," Mangini said. "It's just to show the people of Ukraine that we care and we do not support the actions of Russia."

Residents of all denominations are invited to attend and local spiritual leaders will be participating in this humanitarian effort.
All who attend will be invited to make a Ukrainian flag to take home as a reminder of the day.
Mangini said the event will also give folks a chance to get together and be grateful for their own lives.
Sadly for Ukrainians, many of them have lost their lives at the hands of Russian marauders, some being murdered in cold blood in a series of well-publicized atrocities against innocent civilians.
"We just want people to say 'hello' to their neighbors and reflect on how lucky we are," Mangini said.
