Upcoming Events at the Enfield Senior Center

Join us for the Holiday Craft and Bake Sale on Saturday, December 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Have a hearty breakfast at the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast before you do your shopping.  Proceeds benefit the Enfield Senior Center.

Last year’s Travel Expo was so successful that we decided to do it again.  Gather information about our wide selection of day trips, overnight trips and air tours, have a snack, visit our booths, register for our raffle prizes, and watch a presentation highlighting upcoming trips on Wednesday, December 7, at 2 p.m.  Be the first to know about day trips being planned and plan your multi-day adventure to the Maine Coast, Longwood Gardens, Green Mountains, California Coast, Bermuda Cruise, and Ireland.  Bring your calendars along to plan your trip.  

Take a two-hour informative computer class.  How to Buy a Computer is perfect for the person thinking of making a purchase in the near future.  Learn the computer terminology, assess what your needs are, and review shopping resources on Thursday, December 15, at 10 a.m.  Computer Tips, Care & Maintenance will teach you what you should be doing to keep your computer safe and performing well.  This class is offered on Thursday, December 29, at 1 p.m.  These classes are $3 for residents and $4 for non-residents.

Registration for January/February classes begins on Tuesday, December 13, at 8:30 a.m. for residents and Tuesday, December 20, at 8:30 a.m. for nonresidents.  Pick up a newsletter at the Senior Center if you did not receive one in the mail.  

Movie & Chinese Food Night is Thursday, December 22, at 5 p.m.  The movie is “Water for Elephants” and the cost is $5 for dinner and the movie or $2 for the movie only.  The movie will begin at 6 p.m.  Pick up an assistive hearing device at the front desk.

Our first entertainment event of 2012 is on Thursday, January 5, at 6 p.m.  You will not want to miss this exciting event.  “The SHOW” is a Motown show band singing and dancing to songs of the original artists like the Temptations, The Four Tops, The Spinners, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and many more.  Enjoy songs like “My Girl,” “Ain’t No Woman like the One I’ve Got,” and “Baby, I Need Your Loving.”  Coffee and dessert will be served at intermission.  Tickets are on sale in the Senior Center office for $7 per person.

If your New Year’s Resolution is to be fit and to exercise more, during the months of December and January you have the perfect opportunity to try PRIME Fitness at the Enfield Senior Center.  Schedule your first appointment with a Fitness Assistant, for a free consultation, and then exercise for the next week for free.  This free trial period will only last through December and January.  Take advantage of this offer while it lasts. Celebrate the holidays by dancing to the sounds of keyboardist, Ritchie Mitnick.  No need to buy your tickets in advance.  The Holiday Afternoon Dance is Friday, December 16, at 2 p.m.  Admission is $3 per person and includes dessert.

Magician Tom O’Brien is our holiday gift!  He will present the “Magic of Christmas” on Wednesday, December 21, at 1 p.m.  The show will be fun and free!  If you would like to make a reservation for the Community Café lunch at noon that day, please call 860-763-7428.  A donation of $2 is requested for the noon meal.
