Valedictorian, Salutatorian Announced At Enfield High School

The top two scholars who will deliver addresses at graduation have been named at Enfield High School.

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield High School ha announced that Brianna Carlin has earned the title of valedictorian of the class of 2023. Madison Bohan has been designated as class salutatorian.

Carlin, daughter of Kara and Chris Carlin, has served as a member of the National, Spanish and Tri-M Music honor societies. She is a member of the varsity field hockey and track and field teams. She takes voice lessons at Dance Amore Studios and performs in yearly recitals. Additionally, she is a part of the Friends of Rachel Club, Yearbook Club and Youth Vote Club.

She most recently became an assistant teacher at Bright Beginnings Childcare. She frequently volunteers in the community, donating nearly 150 hours of her time over the past four years. She has received the ShopRite Kindness Award, the Alex Fischer Kindness Award, the Geometry Award and the AAPPL Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, and was selected to be a grand marshal at the 2022 Enfield High School graduation.

Carlin plans to study elementary education and special education in college.

Bohan, daughter of Jaime and Christopher Bohan, has been a member of the National, Spanish and Tri-M Music honor societies. She has taken a rigorous load of classes during her four years at Enfield, with a total of seven AP classes and 18 honors classes. In her sophomore year, she was the sole recipient of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award, and was selected by a board of Enfield school staff members to represent Enfield at a 3-day leadership conference.

Bohan has received the PE award, the AP Statistics Award and the Top Young Chef Award (twice). She has participated in a myriad of extra circular activities, including youth vote, Lamplighters, peer tutoring and peer mentoring. She also has been the girls and boys volleyball manager for six seasons, with her seventh and final season beginning shortly. She has participated in the Prostart Culinary Competitions for the state of Connecticut; last year, her team placed second in the state.

In January, Bohan successfully auditioned for the Eastern Regional Mixed Choir. In her senior year, she has accumulated over 100 volunteer service hours, and also works as a sales associate for DSW and a server at Collins Creamery. She takes great pride in mastering her chocolate chip cookie recipe, requested by many, loved by all.

Bohan will attend Johnson & Wales University this fall, majoring in baking and pastry arts as well as food science. She hopes to participate in study abroad programs during her college experience.
