WEATHER UPDATE: Heavy Snow, Ice Hitting Enfield Today

In a storm that already dumped several inches of snow on the area overnight, the heavy snow is expected to pick up to a rate of one to three inches an hour Monday afternoon.

The heavy snow also could be mixed with sleet.

The National Weather Service says an additional 5 to 9 inches of snow is expected by the time the storm winds down. A total of 10 to 14 inches are expected from the storm.

North winds up to 10 mph with gusts of 21 mph also are forecast, driving wind chills to below zero.

The snow should start winding down by 10 p.m.

  • This Afternoon: Snow. High near 20. North wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.
  • Tonight: A chance of snow, mainly before 10pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 2. Wind chill values as low as -8. Northwest wind 7 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 20. Wind chill values as low as -9. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
  • Tuesday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Wednesday: A chance of snow showers, mainly between 7am and 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Southeast wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%
  • Wednesday Night: A chance of snow showers, mainly after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Thursday: A chance of snow showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -1.
