Where are Senator Murphy and Representative Courtney when it comes to our horses?

Why are Senator Murphy and Representative Courtney the only Congressmen from CT who have not co-sponsored the SAFE ACT?

This is a picture of a feedlot. A feedlot is where horses are dumped in an effort to fatten them up before they are transported to Canada or Mexico to be slaughtered. Horse meat has recently been discovered in ground beef in the US. Do you have a horse? Do you think of your horse as food? Of course not.

Do you like horses and care about what is happening to both our domestic and wild horses, that latter being systematically destroyed by the Bureau of Land Management and their partners in crime, the Cattlemen’s Association?

If you do care about horses, companion or wild, do you know how horses are slaughtered for their “meat?” It will suffice to say that it is horrific, beyond one’s most terrible nightmares. And horse meat is toxic due to the various drugs they receive over their life times -- which seems to be of little concern to those in other countries who dine on Draft horses, racehorses, ponies, pleasure horses, nice healthy young horses, foals, and our wild horses who receive injections when they are “gathered.” The lie that kill buyers only take the old, the sick, the blind, the lame horses is exactly that. Horses are sold to slaughter plants by the pound, just like a sack of potatoes.

Neither Senator Murphy nor Representative Courtney must care very much about American horses. Neither has co-sponsored the Safe Act, which would prevent horses from being transported across our borders to slaughter and would prohibit slaughter in this Country.

How anyone could stand by and do nothing to prevent the slaughter of our horses in barbaric slaughter plants in Canada and Mexico is beyond me. Representatives Esty, Himes, Larson, DeLauro have also co-sponsored the Safe Act, as has Senator Blumenthal.

Makes you wonder, at least it does me, why we have two holdouts here in Connecticut. And it makes me hope that you will call the offices of Murphy and Courtney and ask why. Why not?
