Wind Storm Damage Closes Portions Of Several Roads In Enfield

A wind advisory from the National Weather Service, with gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour, was in effect most of the day Friday.

ENFIELD, CT — Fallen trees and power lines caused by severe winds during an overnight storm prompted closure of portions of two Enfield streets for several hours Friday, including a segment of a busy connector between Route 5 and the Hazardville section of town.

A tree which fell across South Road from the Felician Sisters property also brought down a power line, resulting in closure of the road between Enfield Street and Phoenix Avenue. Police diverted traffic down Phoenix Avenue.

Middle Road was closed from Ellis to Southwood roads due to a downed tree across the roadway.

Nearly 800 power outages in Enfield were reported by Eversource Energy.
