The kittens are about 12-weeks old, and they were left at Comstock Park on Park Road in Ivoryton.

Regional Animal Control for Essex, Deep River, Chester, Westbrook posted about the case on Facebook Wednesday.

“Although the cooler had air holes, it had been taped closed,” officials said.

The kittens were able to break out of the container, and Good Samaritans found them and brought them to the attention of animal control officials.

“They are now safe, comfortable, and receiving the care they need at our facility,” the post said.

The kittens aren’t available for adoption yet, as they are still receiving care.

Anyone with information about who abandoned the kittens is asked to call Regional Animal Control at 860-391-7127.
