Essex, CT – Oct. 6, 2026 The Essex Film Festival returns November 6 and 7 at Centerbrook Architects for its second year, featuring Guest Filmmaker Scott Macaulay. In addition to in-depth conversations with Macaulay, the festival includes four must-see films, an opening reception and a producing masterclass. Macaulay is an independent film producer, writer, and the co-founder and former editor-in-chief of Filmmaker magazine, one of the leading publications covering independent cinema. As a producer, he has helped bring numerous acclaimed independent features to the screen. Macaulay has also served as a juror, moderator, and speaker at film festivals around the world.
The producing masterclass, led my Macaulay on Nov. 7, will be a one-hour workshop for filmmakers, writers and anyone curious about the art, craft and business of producing independent film.
