DEEP RIVER, CT — Recent death notices from Chester, Essex and Deep River.

Marcos Gonzalez, 35, of Deep River, died Aug. 19, 2026. A 2013 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy who earned a master's degree from UMass Amherst, he worked as a regional planner. He is survived by his wife, Rachel, a son and his parents.

Frances E. (Champion) Confrey, 94, of Deep River, died Aug. 13, 2026. She retired from L.C. Doane Company and later moved to Kirtland Commons, where she took up ceramics and bingo. She is survived by a brother, a best friend and seventeen nieces and nephews.

Steven E. Bancroft, 80, of Essex, died Aug. 7, 2026. A Chief Warrant Officer Four with more than 31 years of military service across the Air Force, Army and Connecticut Army National Guard, he deployed to Vietnam and during Operation Desert Storm before a nearly 40-year civilian aviation career. He is survived by his wife, Adrienne, a stepdaughter, two grandchildren and a sister.

Thomas F. Miksa, 74, died July 5, 2026. A lifelong Chester resident and 1970 graduate of Valley Regional High School, he volunteered more than 55 years with the Chester Hose Company. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, a daughter, a son and a brother.

Nathan L. Jacobson, 97, of Chester, died July 2, 2026. A civil and environmental engineer, he founded his own Chester consulting firm in 1972, chaired the town's Planning Commission and served as commodore of the Pattaconk Yacht Club. He is survived by a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
