Is the state ready to vaccinate people aged 75-plus? 65-plus? I know you have questions.
Connecticut is getting ready to move into Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution schedule. Currently, Phase 1B is set to include individuals 75 and older; certain essential workers; and individuals and staff in congregate living settings.

The State’s COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Group, which advises on preparations and the logistics of administering a COVID-19 vaccine to our state’s residents, meets January 14th at 6:00 PM to further discuss the details of Phase 1B. You can watch the meeting live on CT-N.
I have heard from many of you who are between the ages of 65 and 75, as well as many teachers, and so I advocated hard with the vaccine advisory council for these two groups to be included. I am hopeful that recommendation will go through.
The proposed changes include adding the following groups to Phase 1B:
- Those 65 or older
- People with defined medical issues
- Frontline workers, including teachers
It is important to note that the recommendations made by the vaccine working group will need to be approved by the Governor, which could happen on Thursday evening or Friday morning.
The logistics of getting all of our residents vaccinated cannot be overstated. It’s a massive undertaking and involves a number of different departments and organizations.
This is an ever-changing situation with updates coming in every hour. As your state representative, I will continue to pass along updates and key information as soon as it becomes available, including the details of vaccine distribution in our community.
As vaccine distribution expands throughout our state, the end of the pandemic is closer in sight. We will get through this together.
