1 Injured In Shooting In Fairfield: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — One person suffered a gunshot wound Sunday night, after being shot on Fiske Street in Fairfield, police said.

The victim was treated at Bridgeport Hospital following the 10:35 p.m. shooting; the wound is not considered to be a threat to his life.

According to Fairfield Police Sgt. Evan Kaesmann, officers were called to Fiske Street Sunday night, between Johnson and Commerce drives, on a report of shots fired in the area.

"Officers on scene spoke to several residents who stated that while in their homes, they heard multiple 'pops,' which they believed to be gunshots," Kaesmann said in a statement. "Residents stated that after hearing the possible gunshots, two vehicles were seen leaving the area in opposite directions on Fiske Street. While on scene, Officers located several shell casings and established a crime scene."

A short while later, a man arrived at Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle with a single gunshot
wound, and Fairfield officers and detectives confirmed that the man was the victim of the Fiske Street incident.

Additional details were not disclosed, but Fairfield police are continuing the investigation.
