$15K Fine Issued For Overweight Tractor Trailer On I-95 In Fairfield

Troopers determined that the truck was tens of thousands of pounds over the allowed weight.

FAIRFIELD, CT — An unnamed company was issued a $15,470 infraction by Connecticut State Police Wednesday, after troopers determined that one of the company's tractor trailers was tens of thousands of pounds overweight while traveling on Interstate 95 in Fairfield.

The incident occurred about 6:40 a.m., when members of the Connecticut State Police Truck Squad were conducting commercial motor vehicle enforcement southbound on I-95 in Fairfield.

"While monitoring traffic, a member of the squad observed a tractor trailer unit believed to be oversize and overweight for this portion of I-95," state police wrote on Facebook. "The Trooper initiated a motor vehicle stop, where it was learned that the driver did not possess an oversize-overweight permit. The tractor trailer unit was subsequently escorted to the southbound Fairfield rest area where an inspection was conducted."
