2 Charged With Burglarizing Cars, Fleeing Cops In Fairfield
The suspects ran into a wooded area, but were eventually apprehended.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Two men suspected of entering cars and stealing items face charges after they were seen near a vehicle and fled police, according to law enforcement.
Shonquin Qurean Barnett, 18, and Jonathan Enrique Castro, 20, are both charged with burglary, larceny and interfering or resisting, police said.
The incident began about 2 a.m. Friday, when emergency responders received a call from a resident who told them that three people dressed in black were walking up and down Rutland Avenue, entering vehicles, according to information provided by Capt. Robert Kalamaras. Police set up a perimeter and discovered a vehicle on Rutland Avenue with its dome light on that looked as if it had recently been entered, police said.

Meanwhile, on Royal Avenue, a K9 officer noticed a van with its front door ajar. When the officer approached the vehicle, three men in black ran away from the van, according to police, and the officer gave chase. The suspects fled into a wooded area, but Barnett and Castro were eventually apprehended, with Castro being taken into custody at gunpoint, police said.
Castro had a black Apple iPhone, according to police, while Barnett had a change purse containing $14.30 and a lighter. Barnett also said a cellphone found outside the van belonged to him, according to police.

Both Barnett and Castro were released on a promise to appear for their Sept. 30 court date.
