Lightning Strikes Business And Garage, Starting 2 Separate Fires

The fires happened within minutes of each other.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Two buildings were set ablaze by lightning Wednesday in Fairfield, according to fire officials. A business on Chambers Street called Phoenix Audio Video was hit about 4:40 p.m., starting a fire on the roof that crews extinguished, said Fairfield Fire Department Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir. Several minutes earlier, a detached garage on Tuckahoe Lane was lit on fire by lightning, but the blaze was quickly put out by the department. No one was hurt in either incident, a fire official said.
