The 203 Opens First Bricks-And-Mortar Store In Fairfield
Founded in 2014 as an online retailer, the store has developed a following, allowing it to open at 107 Post Road in Fairfield.
FAIRFIELD, CT — The first bricks-and-mortar store of a growing Connecticut clothing brand recently opened at 107 Post Road in Fairfield.
The 203 — or The "Two Oh Three" — was created in 2014 as an online retailer, and it sells Connecticut-themed clothing and merchandise, according to owner Tory Brown, a native of Fairfield.
She founded the store with her brother, Roscoe Brown, and its first office was in Westport. After years of building a following online and through pop-up booths at festivals and events, The 203 was able to move into the Fairfield space.

"Now, we're able to do all of our fulfillment, and operate a store, from one location," Tory Brown told Patch.
Products range in price from about $10 to $50, she said, and The 203 works with local artists on its clothing and merchandise, all of which is "designed, printed or embroidered in Connecticut."

The store even sells some items from other area vendors, such as candles by NaturalAnnieEssentials.com in Bridgeport.
On Tuesday, First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick cut a ribbon in front of the store to welcome it to town. She was joined at the event by Tory Brown; Fairfield Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz; state Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey; and Community & Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart.
"I love that they're from Fairfield," Kupchick said, adding that she hopes to see more residents start businesses in town.
Barnhart agreed. "It's always a great day to welcome a new business to Fairfield."
In a statement, Tory Brown summed up why she is happy for the store to be in Fairfield.
"We're huge Fairfield Fans," she said. "We love Fairfield for its strong sense of community, laid-back vibe, authentic charm, and locally loyal residents. From day one, the Fairfield community embraced our brand’s mission and continues to be some of the most loyal and consistent customers that we have. We love the strong sense of community and the vibrant and active lifestyle of Fairfield.
She added, "Fairfield has such a powerful, strong business community, and we feel very lucky to be a part of it."
The 203 is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, and its grand opening celebration will be on June 18.
