2nd Goddard School Location In Fairfield To Open Next Year

The Goddard School plans to open a second Fairfield location that will serve 185 children and add 40 jobs, according to officials.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Goddard School plans to open its second Fairfield location in January 2027, bringing a new early childhood education center and approximately 40 teaching jobs to town, according to officials.

The 15,000-square-foot school, located at 60 Katona Drive, will feature 15 classrooms and have the capacity to serve approximately 185 children.

The new location will be owned by Kim Sherman, who opened The Goddard School on Stratfield Road in 2020. Sherman, a local parent who has lived in the area for more than 25 years, is partnering with Allison and Ryan Dell, who have owned The Goddard School of Brookfield since 2007 and The Goddard School of Danbury since 2013.

“As both an educator and a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how important the early years are in shaping who children become,” Sherman said in a statement. “Every child deserves an environment where they feel understood, supported and confident to explore the world around them. I’m excited to create a school where we can nurture each child’s individual strengths while partnering closely with families to give them the strongest possible foundation for the future.”

Sherman previously taught elementary school in the Seattle area and has worked as an early childhood educator and tutor.

The new Fairfield school will include two gymnasiums, multiple playgrounds and hospital-grade sanitization equipment.

The school will use The Goddard School's Wonder of Learning curriculum, an inquiry-based educational program that emphasizes children's natural curiosity through exploration, investigation and questions.

Its curriculum was developed by educators, researchers, physicians and early childhood specialists. It includes assessments of students' academic and social-emotional development, along with a mobile app designed to facilitate communication with families.

Under the inquiry-based approach, teachers guide children through topics that encourage them to explore their interests, investigate concepts and learn about themselves and the world around them.
