32-Year-Old Killed In Fairfield Hit-And-Run

Fairfield police have received hundreds of potential leads in connection with the death of a Pennsylvania woman visiting family in the area.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 32-year-old Pennsylvania woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday in Fairfield, according to police.

Marileidy Morel Araujo of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, was on foot near 2000 Redding Road when she was fatally struck around 7:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July, Fairfield police said in a Facebook post. Araujo had been visiting family in the area.

The suspect vehicle is a dark green Jeep Wrangler, which had its top off, doors on and a large American flag flying from the rear, according to police. The Jeep, which was likely damaged in its front right section, was last seen speeding north on Redding Road.

Police said Sunday they had received hundreds of potential leads. Anyone with information or surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident or suspect vehicle is asked to contact Sgt.
