4th Congressional District Republican Primary: Polls Close

Polls have closed Tuesday for the Republican primary in Connecticut's 4th Congressional District, for which the GOP selected a candidate to take on incumbent Democrat Jim Himes on Nov. 3.

Running for the Republican nomination were Dr. Michael Goldstein, a physician and attorney, who lost to Himes in 2024, and Daniel Miressi, a former professional hockey player and current youth hockey coach, who ran unsuccessfully against state Sen. Bob Duff in 2022.

Goldstein was the party-endorsed candidate, while Miressi was a petitioning candidate.

The 4th Congressional District represents southwestern Fairfield County, and includes all or parts of the following communities (alphabetically):

• Bridgeport
• Darien
• Easton
• Fairfield
• Greenwich
• Monroe
• New Canaan
• Norwalk
• Oxford (portion)
• Redding
• Ridgefield
• Shelton (portion)
• Stamford
• Trumbull
• Weston
• Westport
• Wilton

Only registered Republicans were eligible to vote in the primary, as state law only allows for registered voters in a party to vote.
