5 Injured In 2-Car Crash In Fairfield: Authorities

A Good Samaritan who stopped to help was injured when they were hit by a third car, authorities said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Five people were injured early Saturday morning in a crash on Merritt Parkway in Fairfield.

According to the Fairfield Fire Department, the two-car crash happened in front of a northbound rest area. Authorities said a bystander attempting to aid a person injured in the crash was then struck by a third car.

Authorities did not say what caused the first crash.

Those hurt in the crash were taken to the hospital with various injuries, authorities said. The nature of their injuries was unknown.
