7 People Rescued From Sinking Boat In Waters Off Fairfield: FD

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield firefighters and marine police rescued seven people — six adults and one child — from a sinking boat in the waters off Fairfield Beach Road Tuesday night, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.

The boat, described as a pleasure craft, was stranded "with no electricity and could not start" the engines, which prompted the rescue. Fairfield fire officials posted a brief video of the aftermath of the rescue on the department's Facebook page.

As the boat took on water, the boaters donned life vests before authorities arrived.

"The Fairfield Fire Department would like to remind all members to practice safe boating and insure the presence of life vests for all members aboard any seagoing vessels," officials said in a statement.
