$70,000 In Jewelry Lost After Trunk Left Open: Fairfield Police
A $40,000 watch, a $30,000 diamond ring and a $3,500 pair of diamond earrings were among the items lost, Fairfield police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A motorist in Fairfield lost more than $70,000 worth of jewelry after driving down a major thoroughfare in town with an open trunk, according to police.
About 6 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to Black Rock Turnpike and Congress Street, where a person reported that they had inadvertently left the back of their car open after a trip to Trader Joe’s, and that a black bag was missing from the vehicle, authorities said.
The person found some items that had been in the car on Black Rock Turnpike, but not the bag, which contained a $40,000 Cartier watch, a 2.13-carat diamond ring valued at $30,000 and a $3,500 pair of diamond earrings, according to police.
