80 Animals Found In Squalid Fairfield Home, Police Say
The animals, which were taken to local shelters for evaluation, included chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks and cats, according to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — More than 80 animals, including a large number of poultry, were removed Saturday from a Fairfield home, police said.
Law enforcement was notified around 8:30 a.m. about a possible animal cruelty situation at a Churchill Street residence, according to police. Fire department personnel, who were at the home responding to a medical emergency, alerted law enforcement, police said.
Officers found the residence in squalor, with animal waste throughout, as well as numerous chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks and cats, police said.

“Based on the condition of the house, police believe this was a hoarding situation,” authorities said in a news release. “The resident was transported to an area hospital for treatment for their medical conditions.”
Animal control from Westport, Bridgeport and Trumbull assisted Fairfield officials in their response, and the birds and cats were taken to local shelters to be evaluated, according to police.
