Age Friendly Fairfield Launches Community Survey

Among the goals of the survey is to strengthen Fairfield's "ability to attract and retain aging residents and multi-generational families."

The following release is from Age Friendly Fairfield:

FAIRFIELD, CT — Age Friendly Fairfield is a town-wide initiative that aims to make our community a great place to grow up and grow old. The Community Survey is the first step in the Age Friendly Initiative. The project is modeled after the national program of the AARP and World Health Organizations. Information captured from these sessions, coupled with the survey results, will guide the Town in developing action plans that address community priorities.

“Tell us what’s important to you as you age, share your experiences, and let us know the extent to which Fairfield is supporting the needs of Fairfield residents,” said Julie DeMarco, Human and Social Services Director. “The goal of the survey is to enhance Fairfield as a great place to live; and to strengthen our ability to attract and retain aging residents and multi-generational families.”

If you are over the age of 45, we encourage you to take the Age Friendly Fairfield survey. Developed by Fairfield Senior Advocates and the Fairfield University Center for Social Impact, the survey marks the first step towards understanding residents’ perceptions of community resources while aging in Fairfield. Younger residents may also want to take the survey on behalf of any older family member or friend - or just to weigh in on your hopes for Fairfield in the future. The survey will be available through June 15, 2023.

“Your voice matters!” Brenda Steele, Bigelow Center Director, said. “Once the survey is completed, Age Friendly Fairfield will schedule listening sessions and focus groups with residents - as well as community walkabouts during which residents may share their ideas and opinions.”
