Alex Beyer and Friends: Summer Soiree Series

In a benefit for Pequot Library, Alex Beyer, piano and Alan Murchie, piano perform works of Mendelssohn and Rachmaninoff.

About Alex Beyer:
Alex Beyer has acquired an impressive array of prestigious concert appearances nationally and internationally. He has been a guest soloist with the Milwaukee, Charlotte, Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury, and Bridgeport Symphony Orchestras, among others. In 2012, he was a US Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Warmly received at the 2015 US Chopin Competition, he received Sixth Prize. Alex was the recipient of Third Prize, as well as the Beethoven and Concerto special awards at the 2015 Dublin International Piano Competition.

Alex has performed in and directed many benefit concerts for the Pequot Library, Project Learn, Music for Youth, Mercy Learning Center, and KEYS. A music history enthusiast, he established the lecture concert series “Sundays at 4” and will continue in Summer 2015 with “Summer Soirees” at Pequot Library in Southport, Connecticut.

About Alan Murchie:
Alan Murchie is a versatile musician whose performance schedule includes regular appearances as a solo pianist, organist, conductor, chamber musician, and lecturer. Recent concert performances include piano and organ concerti with The Knights, a live recital on WGBH Boston with BSO cellist Owen Young, and appearances at summer festivals including Maverick Concerts in Woodstock, New York. As a solo pianist, Alan has toured Morocco and has performed in Vienna, Berlin, Edinburgh, Venice, and Florence. As organist, Alan’s New York recital venues have included the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola and Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue.
