Fairfield resident Neal Fischbach, MD, will be recognized with the Dominick Sorge, MD Distinguished Physician Community Service Award at the Greater Bridgeport Medical Association’s upcoming Physician Awards Ceremony and Scholarship Dinner.
Dr. Fischbach serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine and as Assistant Medical Director of the Clinical Trials Office, where his work reflects a deep commitment to advancing cancer care and expanding access to innovative clinical trials across the Yale New Haven Health network.
Beyond his clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Fischbach has made a meaningful impact in the community as President and Co-founder of THRIVE – Cooperative Wellness Center. Through this work, he has helped create a supportive environment for individuals facing cancer, addressing not only treatment needs but also the physical, emotional, and practical challenges that accompany a diagnosis. Drawing from decades of experience and personal connections to cancer, he has built a community centered on connection, education, and holistic support.
“Dr. Fischbach exemplifies what this award represents,” said John Brannelly, Executive Director of the Greater Bridgeport Medical Association. “His dedication to both advancing cancer care and supporting patients beyond the clinical setting has made a lasting impact on countless individuals and families in our community.”
Dr. Fischbach will be honored on Thursday, May 14, at the GBMA Physician Awards Ceremony and Scholarship Dinner in Stratford, where he will be recognized alongside fellow physicians, nurses, and student scholarship recipients.
