Suspect Busted After Fleeing From Fairfield Cops, Then Giving Fake Name: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 52-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested on a warrant by Fairfield police last month, after the suspect gave a false identity to officers which was later discovered during an investigation, Patch has learned.

Christopher G. Somsky was arrested on a host of criminal and motor vehicle charges on April 16 at Bridgeport Superior Court, where he was appearing on an unrelated matter, according to Fairfield police.

Somsky was charged with the following:

• Misuse of License Plates
• Operating Under Suspension
• Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle
• Failure to Insure
• Unsafe Backing
• Reckless Driving
• Engaging Police in Pursuit
• Interfering with an Officer
• Criminal Impersonation
• Forgery in the Second Degree

The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 20, 2025, when an operator, later determined to be Somsky, fled a motor vehicle stop initiated by Fairfield Police in the area of Tunxis Hill Road.

He is alleged to have driven recklessly through a busy parking lot and onto a public roadway.

"During the investigation, the operator initially identified himself as another individual and signed official documents using that identity," said Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington told Patch. "Further investigation later confirmed the operator was Somsky, who had been using an alias."

Somsky is being held in lieu of bail of $25,000, and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 21.
