FAIRFIELD, CT — Attorney Lukas “Luke” Thomas secured the endorsement of the Fairfield Republican Town Committee (RTC) this week as the Republican candidate for Judge of Probate in the November 2026 election.
A Fairfield resident of 20 years, Thomas is a principal at the law firm Owens, Schine & Nicola, where he has practiced for the last ten years. His early years at the firm were alongside the late Judge Dan Caruso, the long-time Fairfield Probate Judge whose seat Thomas now seeks. Thomas credits Caruso as both a mentor and a friend and has built a probate practice grounded in the same principles Caruso espoused: integrity, ethics, and grace.
“A large portion of my practice involves probating estates, and each one arises from loss,” Thomas said in his remarks to the Committee. “The best way to help clients through that process is with kindness and compassion. If elected, I will bring that same approach to the duties of Judge of Probate because there is room to bring dignity, decency, and humanity to the administrative process and to the people caught up in it.”
Thomas brings nearly two decades of service to Fairfield to the campaign. He chaired the Town’s Conservation Commission and Inland Wetlands Agency during a period of significant reform, leading a bipartisan body of Republican, Democratic, and unaffiliated members. For the past two years, he has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Studies at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
A graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law, Thomas began his legal career at a Stamford firm, then opened his own practice and later joined Owens, Schine & Nicola. He lives in Fairfield with his wife, Larissa, and daughter, Connie.
The general election will be held on November 3, 2026.
