Ohio Man Accused Of Trying To Cash Fraudulent Check In Fairfield: Police

The suspect is accused of using another person's identity, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 61-year-old Columbus, Ohio man was arrested on charges of forgery, identity theft and related violations last month, after Fairfield police said he tried to cash a fraudulent check for $8,500 at a Webster Bank on Black Rock Turnpike, Patch has learned.

Charles Darling was arrested at the scene on May 18, after bank employees suspected the transaction was fraudulent.

Darling was charged with the following:

According to Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington, Darling tried to cash the check using someone else's identity.

"During the investigation, officers also discovered Darling was in possession of forged identification documents containing that individual's personal information," Wellington told Patch.

Darling was released after posting a $10,000 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on June 17.
