• Ohio Man Accused Of Trying To Cash Fraudulent Check In Fairfield: Police (patch.com) — Fairfield police say a 61-year-old Ohio man was arrested after allegedly trying to cash an $8,500 fraudulent check at the Webster Bank on Black Rock Turnpike using another person’s identity. Officers reported finding forged identification documents, and the suspect, released on a $10,000 bond, is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on June 17.    

• Fairfield Board Of Finance Sets Mill Rate At 19.19, As Accuracy Of Recent Revaluation Is Questioned (patch.com) — Fairfield’s Board of Finance unanimously set the 2026-27 mill rate at 19.19, a lower rate that may still mean higher tax bills because of rising property values. Officials debated the accuracy of the recent revaluation, the high success rate of assessment appeals, and how new state funding and collection assumptions could affect residents’ tax burden.    

• Habitat For Humanity Breaks Ground On Affordable Homes In Fairfield (patch.com) — Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County has started work on four new affordable homes on Quincy Street, deepening its partnership with Fairfield after a similar project on Greenfield Street. Town officials highlighted the long-planned effort as a key step in expanding affordable homeownership, saying the homes will strengthen neighborhood stability and keep Fairfield welcoming to residents of varied incomes.
