Author Dr. Dale Atkins will return to host a Storytime & Craft Hour for her new children's book, Dear Deer, at 12 p.m. on Sat., June 20, at the Fairfield University Store, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield, CT.
Dear Deer is a love letter to forest animals and the natural world, capturing the curiosity and excitement of a pair of children as they learn about, discover, and explore the wonders of the wild.
As the children embark on their adventure, they come across a fawn, a baby deer, in distress, prompting them to find a way to help without causing any harm. Through their efforts, children will learn valuable lessons about compassion, patience, empathy, tuning into one’s senses, and the delicate balance of nature.
Inspiration for Dear Deer stems from the author’s own experiences, where she developed a strong connection with the natural world. Through Dear Deer, she aims to share this respect and love for nature with young readers, encouraging them to develop a lifelong appreciation for the environment and its inhabitants by asking questions, making observations, drawing conclusions, and seeking solutions.
