In the first incident from June 1, Fairfield police received a report of $210 worth of alcohol that was stolen from BJ's Wholesale Club on Black Rock Turnpike.

"After reviewing surveillance footage, Fairfield officers recognized the individuals involved as Belcher and Coates, with whom they were familiar," Wellington said.

The second case occurred on June 3, when $40 worth of alcohol was reported stolen from Harry's Wine & Liquor on Post Road.

"Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle as it left the parking lot, but it fled at a high rate of speed," Wellington said. "Officers recognized Belcher as the operator of the vehicle. After reviewing surveillance footage, officers again identified Belcher and Coates as the individuals involved in the theft."

The two were apprehended on July 4 and were charged.
