FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Police Department will host Fairfield's first National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sherman Green and on Reef Road.
National Night Out is an annual event that focuses on building relationships among law enforcement, residents, community organizations, local businesses and families. The event will give residents an opportunity to meet Fairfield police officers and connect with local organizations and community resources.
Activities will include community tables, children's activities, Touch-a-Truck vehicles, music, food trucks, face painting, balloon animals and a children's raffle.
The Touch-a-Truck area will feature several Fairfield Police Department units, along with other public safety partners, allowing children and families to view vehicles and equipment. Demonstrations are scheduled by the Fairfield Police Bike Unit, the K-9 Unit and Flagman Safety.
Children can also participate in an Activity Passport program by visiting community tables, taking part in activities and collecting stamps. Completed passports can be exchanged for raffle tickets for children's prizes. Participants may complete more than one passport to receive additional raffle entries.
"This event is about bringing the community together and strengthening the relationships that make Fairfield such a special place," Chief Michael Paris said in a statement. "National Night Out gives families an opportunity to meet our officers, learn more about public safety, and connect with the many organizations and community partners that serve Fairfield."
Reef Road will be closed from Post Road to Sherman Street during the event.
